Week 6 Recap!!!!!

Week 6 Recaps

Chicksie Dix
by: Geoff Quiocho

Week 6 is finished with the Chicksie Dix losing 4-13 to the All Nighters. The team was getting hits but struggled getting the runs in. Notable performances by Ryan Basco and Player of the Week Marcus Barrientos each securing a home run. Although the Chicksie Dix have been struggling as of late there are still a couple of games left in the season. Let’s hope the home runs lift the spirit of the team going into the final games of the season.

Mada Pakaz
by: Geoff Quiocho

Oh so close. The Mada Pakaz come out with a great effort securing a tie with the Aztecs 11-11. An excellent effort as every member of the team contributed with CJ Villaflor and Geoff Quiocho hitting 1 Hr each. Rj dela Fuente and Linda Lam each rack up 3 Rbi’s as the team almost come out with a win. A tying run by the Aztecs in the last inning ended the game in an 11-11 tie. Cj Villaflor secured the Player of the Week as he not only hit a homerun, but made the other team reconsider hitting it center field. Week 6 was also a double header week for the Mada Pakaz as they lose the 2nd game to the War Pigs 14-22 showing obvious signs of fatigue from the last game. Overall good night as the rookie team continues to improve.

Run Home Jacks

by: Geoff Quiocho

In what can arguably be deemed as one of the Jack’s best games of the season, they come out with a 22-20 win against Das Boot. After last week’s lost, the Jacks definitely had intentions of making up for that horrendous performance. Week 6 the Jacks restored their hitting spree proving that the past weeks weren’t a fluke. Back to back homeruns by Tim Tillman and Chris Villar helped rack up the runs. The teams defense as a whole helped prevent key plays and held off a final inning rally by Das Boot securing the Jacks another victory. The Jacks’ play earned every member the honor of winning Players of the Week. With the season coming to an end, it will be interesting to see what the Jacks do with this momentum.

Week 4 and 5 Recaps

Week 4 & 5 Recaps

Chicksie Dix
by: Geoff Quiocho

Week 4 can pretty much be summarized as heartbreak week. Losing by 20 hurts but losing by 1 always leaves a bitter after taste. The Chicksie Dix come out losing 9-10 to the Aztecs with a balanced performance by the whole team. With no errors the team’s defense is what shined as they held the Aztecs to 10 the last couple of innings. Just a couple more runs and the Chicksie Dix would’ve bagged the win in the last inning. Definitely a great effort. Kudos to the Chicksie Dix Defense for winning Player(s) of the week. Week 5 the Chicksie Dix went down 16-24 with notable performances by Dodge dela Paz and Melo Espinoza each with 4 rbi’s. Special thanks to Londoners Christine Rasay and Paul Rasay for filling some holes that were needed in the roster.

Mada Pakaz

by: Geoff Quiocho

Week 4 for the Mada Pakaz was no different as a last inning run by the All Nighters sealed the Pakaz fate losing 17-18. A heart breaking loss indeed as the game was definitely in the Pakaz’s hands. Although coming out losing, a great effort by the rookie team. After Week 4 the Pakaz are more than ready to compete as long as the team stays intact. Week 5 would probably best be forgotten as the team goes down 1-20 to the All Nighters again. Most of the team wasn’t present due to previous arrangements but Paulyn Canamaso and Michael Arguelles from the Chicksie Dix were there to lend a hand.

Run Home Jacks
by: Geoff Quiocho

Run Home Jacks is no exception to the heartbreak week 4 as they go down to the So Cal califas 15-18. An overall solid hitting game with 20 hits total the Jacks weren’t able to secure the win as they are overtook by the Califas losing in a heartbreaker in the last innings. Notable performance by rookie Jericho Neralta racking up 4 rbi’s to earn Player of the Week. Week 5 however, last season’s Jacks were there to play. And those who played the last season know that this might not be a good thing. With only 1 run scored losing in a blowout against Reason to Drink 1- 22. The Jacks just couldn’t get the ball to drop as the opposing team’s defense would not let up. Definitely a week the Jacks would rather forget.

Week 3 Recaps!!!

Practice makes perfect. We've all heard this many a times. Labor Day weekend resulted in exactly that.Labor. All three teams didn't rest making for an exciting week 4 in the Big Leagues.

Run Home Jacks 25 Vs. On the Run 17
written by: Geoff Quiocho

It's a new season. With a new season means new challenges. Of course without the proper preparation and experience, overcoming challenges can be difficult. The Jacks have gone through all the necessary preparation and the necessary experiences to take on this new season. 46-0. That score from last season, continues to be a reminder of how far the Jacks have come. Because of that, the Jacks have become one of the most exciting hitting teams in the league. With 27 hits the Jacks obliterated the opposition in one of the best hitting displays of the season. Leading the bombardment was Players of the Week Cli Villaflor and Marc Guillermo. Marc Guillermo who struggled with hitting last season nearly averaging a strike-out per game, definitely found his niche with a whopping 7 RBIs, a 1.000 batting avg. and 1.000 obp. If Guillermo continues to perform this way expect a more powerful Home Run Jacks. The rookie addition to the team, Cli Villaflor proved this week that he can bring more to the table than just quality pitches. With 5 RBI's and 1 homerun, I think we can all agree thats way more than we can ask for a pitcher. Not only can this guy throw the strikes, he can hit one to the fences, and bring his teammates home. Let's not forget notable performances by outfielder Alex Santa Maria and first basemen Ryan Basco, each with 3 RBI'ss. A 10 run rally in the last inning began to worry the Jack, watching their lead dwindle down. However this ended with a catch by rookie catcher Jericho, bringing the Jacks a sigh of relief as well as their first win. A win many would agree as bittersweet. Now that the Jacks know how it feels to win, they now have a new challenge, the challenge of continuing to win.

Rivalry Game

Chicksie Dix 14 Vs. MadaPakaz 10
written by: Geoff Quiocho

"A guy/girlthat throws what he/she intends to throw, that's the definition of a good pitcher." -Sandy Koufax

Rivalry week definitely was no picnic. With Week 4 underway the Chicksie Dix and MadaPakaz duked it out like Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier in what came out to be an intense match-up. From start to finish the game that was expected to be a fun casual game between friends, ended up becoming a war between neighboring factions. This was no Varsity/JV game. Both teams wanted to win. The MadaPakaz before this week weren't known for being a strong defensive presence. At least this is what the Chicksie Dix may have thought when Melo "Heavy Hitta" Espinosa came up to the plate in the early innings. With a perfect batting avg and a perfect obp going into Week 4 everyone expected Espinosa to continue his perfect run, that is until it ended up in the glove of rookie 3rd Basemen and Player of the Week Linda Lam. The shocked look on Espinosa's face set the tone for the rest of the game as both teams declared that no one was going to fold. The Chicksie Dix were lead by the "two-basco" sauces Ryan and Rachelle Basco with a combined total of 5 RBI's. Despite the catch by Linda, Melo came back swinging with 4 RBI's. The Pakaz were lead by C.J. Villaflor, Royce and Geoff Quiocho with a combined total of 7 RBI's. Linda Lam and Alyssa Andres also obtained an RBI each to add on to the score. A run in the later innings brought the Chicksie Dix to a 4 run lead. What this game truly came down to wast he pitching. Referencing Koufax's quote, Player of the Week and pitcher Rachelle Basco intended to strike the Pakaz out. Not only did she keep the Pakaz on their toes, she fielded and hit well offensively as well. The Pakaz were forced to hit as Basco continued to get at least 1 strike in at every batter. Her pitch as described by Home Run Jack's pitcher Cli Villaflor was very graceful with a great follow through, and pitching is definitely no easy task. Just knowing that the game is going to be on the line is enough to throw any hopeful pitcher out of his/her rhythm. This wasn't the case for Basco, protecting the lead in the last inning as the Chicksie Dix come out with the win 14 runs to 10. This win signifies the Dix's 2nd win of the season. I'm excited to see these two teams meet again. When they do, I advise you watch out for flying debris.

The Chicksie Dix were without veteran players Dodge de la Paz and Trish de la Paz. Both teams wore white ribbons in remembrance of the mother of 2nd Basemen Trish de la Paz who passed away this week. Our prayers go out to their family in this time of mourning.
